Crispy Mashed Potatoes

Seasonal Vegetables

Method

Cooking the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the New York Strip steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. 2

    Sear the Steak

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Adjust the time for your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Making Crispy Mashed Potatoes

  1. 4

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. Mash until smooth.

  3. 6

    Crisp the Potatoes

Transfer the mashed potatoes to a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 7

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash and trim the asparagus and peel the carrots. Cut carrots into sticks.

  2. 8

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add asparagus and carrots, season with salt and pepper, and sauté until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
