Steak and Cheese

Garlic Toast

Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Cook the Steak

Season the New York strip steak with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Let it rest before slicing thinly.

Making the Au Jus

  1. 2

    Prepare the Au Jus

In a small saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.

Making the Garlic Toast

  1. 3

    Prepare the Garlic Toast

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the French baguette in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley (if using). Spread the garlic butter mixture on both halves of the baguette. Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden and crispy.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 4

    Assemble Mini French Dips

Place the sliced steak on the toasted baguette halves and top with Gruyere cheese. Optionally, broil for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Serve with the warm au jus for dipping.
