Seasoning and Accompaniments

Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Dice the Ahi Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the ahi tuna into small, uniform cubes. Aim for about 1/2 inch in size for even texture.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out. Dice the avocado into small cubes, similar in size to the tuna.

  3. 3

    Slice the Cucumber

Peel the cucumber if desired, then slice it into thin rounds or half-moons, depending on your preference.

Mixing the Tartar

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ahi tuna, avocado, and cucumber.

  2. 5

    Add Seasoning

Pour the soy sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice over the mixture. Add the chopped green onions, cilantro, salt, black pepper, and sesame seeds.

  3. 6

    Toss Gently

Using a spatula or spoon, gently toss all the ingredients together to ensure an even coating of the dressing and seasoning. Be careful not to mash the avocado.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Tartar

Using a ring mold or simply by hand, plate the tuna tartar mixture onto a serving dish. You can also serve it in individual bowls.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle additional sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top for garnish. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or on cucumber slices.
