French Fry Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly. Peel them if desired, then cut each potato into evenly sized strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large, heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to submerge the fries.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. While they are still hot, season with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
