Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts to come together.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Add Cheese

Fold in the grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese until evenly distributed.

  6. 6

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  7. 7

    Shape the Bread

Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.

  8. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the loaf with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30-40 minutes.

  9. 9

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  10. 10

    Bake

Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  11. 11

    Cool and Serve

Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
