Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, warm the milk and butter over low heat until the butter is melted. Let it cool slightly, then add the eggs and mix well. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Shape the Bombolones
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a round cutter (about 3 inches in diameter). Place a teaspoon of hazelnut cream and a teaspoon of raspberry jam in the center of each circle. Fold the edges over to seal and shape into balls.
- 4
Second Rise
Place the filled bombolones on a floured baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- 5
Fry the Bombolones
In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the bombolones in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Finish and Serve
Once fried, dust the bombolones with powdered sugar and serve warm.
