Classic Cocktails

  1. 1

    Chill the Glass

Place your martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of gin or vodka and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass or shaker with ice cubes, about 1 cup or enough to fill the container halfway.

  4. 4

    Stir or Shake

If you prefer your martini stirred, use a bar spoon to gently stir the mixture for about 30 seconds. If you prefer it shaken, cover the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.

  5. 5

    Strain and Serve

Remove the ice from the chilled martini glass and strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Garnish your martini with an olive or a twist of lemon peel, as preferred.
