Directions
- 1
Prepare the Caramelized Onions
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Form the Burger Patties
Take the ground beef and divide it into two equal portions. Gently form each portion into a ball and then flatten them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 3
Cook the Burger Patties
In a hot skillet or griddle over medium-high heat, place the burger patties. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until a good crust forms. Flip the patties and immediately add 2 slices of American cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread 2 tablespoons of Thousand Island dressing. Place the burger patty with melted cheese on top, followed by a generous amount of diced pickles and caramelized onions. Top with the other half of the bun.
