Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adding Gruyère cheese on top during the last minute of cooking to melt.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burger

Spread au poivre mayo on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Add the cooked patty with melted Gruyère, shallot jam, and a handful of watercress. Top with the other half of the bun.
