Stuffed Pepper Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peppers

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the tops off the Cubanelle peppers and remove the seeds. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Sausage

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until the onion is translucent. Add the Italian sweet sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

  3. 3

    Mix Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage mixture with pomodoro sauce, salt, black pepper, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.

  4. 4

    Stuff the Peppers

Fill each Cubanelle pepper with the sausage mixture. Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour any remaining pomodoro sauce over the stuffed peppers and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, and serve warm.
