Cavatelli and Bolognese Sauce

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bolognese Sauce

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  2. 2

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Deglaze with Wine

Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

  4. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Broth

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  5. 5

    Slow Cook the Sauce

Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for at least 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  6. 6

    Cook the Cavatelli

In a separate pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the cavatelli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  7. 7

    Combine and Serve

Once the sauce is ready, toss the cooked cavatelli with the Bolognese sauce. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
