In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Dredge the Calamari
Toss the calamari rings in the flour mixture until evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.

Fry the Calamari
Carefully place the breaded calamari in the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve the fried calamari hot, garnished with sliced vinegar peppers and accompanied by marinara sauce for dipping.
