Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass (optional)

If desired, place the mule mug or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to chill it.

  2. 2

Fill a copper mule mug or highball glass with ice (cubed or crushed depending on preference) so the drink stays cold.

  3. 3

Pour 2 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon over the ice.

  4. 4

Add 0.5 oz fresh lime juice (about half a lime) to the glass. If you prefer a slightly tarter drink, use up to 0.75 oz.

  5. 5

Top with 4 oz Freddie's Ginger Beer. Pour gently to preserve fizz; adjust amount to taste if you prefer more or less ginger beer.

  6. 6

Give the drink a gentle stir with a bar spoon (2–3 slow turns) to combine bourbon, lime, and ginger beer without losing too much carbonation.

  7. 7

Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim. Optionally express a lime peel over the drink for extra aroma by squeezing the peel skin-side down over the surface, then drop it in.

  8. 8

Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
