Cocktail

Method

Prep & Rim

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a rocks glass (10–12 oz). Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of the glass to moisten it.

  2. 2

On a small plate, mix Tajín and coarse salt (if using). Press the moistened rim of the glass into the Tajín mixture to coat evenly. Set glass aside.

Mixing the Cocktail

  1. 3

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.

  2. 4

Add 2 oz Patron Silver, 1 oz pickle juice, 1 oz house margarita mix, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker.

  3. 5

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and well-chilled (this both chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance).

  4. 6

Fill the rimmed rocks glass with fresh ice (large cubes or a single large rock preferred).

  5. 7

Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over the fresh ice using a fine or hawthorne strainer to keep out small ice shards.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 8

Garnish with a dill pickle spear by resting it on the rim or standing it in the glass.

  2. 9

Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail pick. Optional: offer extra pickle juice on the side for an additional 'pickleback' or to top up the drink to taste.
