Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cut Tortillas

Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into triangle shapes (like a pizza) or into strips, depending on your preference.

  2. 2

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F or 175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry Chips

Carefully add a handful of the cut tortillas to the hot oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.

  4. 4

    Remove and Drain

Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Season

While still warm, sprinkle the fried chips with salt and any optional seasonings you desire. Toss to coat evenly.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the housemade chips warm with your favorite dips, such as salsa, guacamole, or queso.
