Fried Jalapeños

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Jalapeños

Slice the jalapeños into rings, removing the seeds if you prefer less heat.

2

Make the Batter

In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

3

Breading the Jalapeños

Dip each jalapeño ring first into the egg mixture, then into the flour mixture, making sure to coat evenly.

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Jalapeños

Carefully add the breaded jalapeño rings to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).

6

Drain and Serve

Remove the fried jalapeños and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch or blue cheese dressing.
