Preparation
Prepare the Glass
Take a highball glass and fill it with ice cubes to chill. Set aside.
Mix the Base
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of dark rum and 1 oz of aged whiskey.
Add Juice and Syrup
Pour in 1 oz of fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz of simple syrup into the shaker with the spirits.
Incorporate Flavor Enhancers
Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters and 1 tsp of blackstrap molasses to the shaker.
Shake It Up
Fill the shaker with ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
Strain into Glass
Strain the mixture into the prepared highball glass filled with ice.
Top with Ginger Beer
Pour 4 oz of ginger beer over the strained mixture in the glass.
Garnish
Add 5 fresh mint leaves and a lime wheel on top of the drink for garnish.
