Prepare the Chickpeas
If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight in water. The next day, drain and rinse them, then cook in boiling water for about 1 hour until tender. If using canned chickpeas, simply drain and rinse them.

Chop Garlic
Peel and chop the garlic cloves to help them blend more easily.
Blending

Blend Until Smooth
Blend the mixture until it is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the food processor to ensure everything is well mixed.

Adjust Consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add a little water (1 tablespoon at a time) until you reach your desired consistency.
Serving

Garnish and Serve
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with paprika, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers.
