Preparation

Wings Preparation

1. Prepare the Chicken Wings

Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

2. Season the Wings

In a large bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken wings and toss until they are evenly coated with the seasoning.

3. Coat the Wings

In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Dredge each chicken wing in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated. Shake off any excess.

4. Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5. Fry the Wings

Carefully add the coated chicken wings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

6. Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the wings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Rice Preparation

7. Rinse the Rice

In a fine mesh strainer, rinse the long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This will remove excess starch and prevent the rice from being sticky.

8. Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

9. Finish the Rice

Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the butter until melted.
