Cocktail Preparation

   Chill the Glass

   Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. Fill it with ice water and set it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

   Mix the Ingredients

   In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of bourbon, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

   Stir

   Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

   Prepare the Glass

   Empty the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass.

   Strain the Cocktail

   Using a cocktail strainer, pour the mixed drink into the chilled cocktail glass.

   Garnish

   Garnish the drink with a maraschino cherry and a twist of orange peel. To express the oils from the orange peel, hold it over the drink and give it a slight twist before placing it in the glass.
