Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy. Stir in 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

Frying Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large heavy pot, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.

  3. 6

    Fry Churros

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Coating and Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare Sugar Coating

In a shallow dish, mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until well coated.

  3. 9

    Serve with Chocolate Sauce

Serve the churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 10

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.

  2. 11

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and whisk in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
