Method
Preparing the Bread
- 1
Slice the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
Preparing the Topping
- 3
Chop the Tomatoes
While the bread is toasting, wash and dice the fresh tomatoes into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.
- 4
Add Basil and Garlic
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and mince the garlic cloves. Add both to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- 5
Season the Mixture
Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the tomato mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Gently toss to combine all the ingredients.
Assembling the Bruschetta
- 6
Top the Toasts
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon a generous amount of the tomato mixture onto each slice of toasted bread.
- 7
Serve Immediately
Serve the bruschetta warm, drizzling a little more olive oil on top if desired. Enjoy!
