In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the Alehouse beer until the batter is smooth and thick. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Fish
Pat the Atlantic cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Batter the Fish
Dip each piece of cod into the beer batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
- 5
Fry the Fish
Carefully place the battered cod fillets into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Prepare the Coleslaw
In a bowl, mix the coleslaw mix with mayonnaise, lemon juice, and hot sauce to taste. Combine well.
