Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

4

Combine Both Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Add Flavor Add-ins

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) gently into the batter.

Baking

6

Bake the Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7

Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

8

Prepare to Serve

Once cooled, slice the cake into squares and serve with a dollop of whipped cream on top.

9

Garnish

Top each serving with a cherry for a festive touch.
