Fries Ingredients

Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Preparing the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick. Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Drying the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. This step is crucial for crispy fries.

  3. 3

    Heating the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of potato in; it should sizzle immediately.

  4. 4

    Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Seasoning

Sprinkle the fries with salt, black pepper, and paprika (if using) while they are still hot. Toss to coat evenly.

  6. 6

    Serving

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
