Clarifying the Milk
In a bowl, mix the whole milk and simple syrup together. Then, gently heat the mixture in a saucepan until warm, but not boiling. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before adding to the bourbon.

Mixing the Cocktail
In a shaker, combine the George Dickel Number 8 bourbon with the warm milk mixture. Shake gently to combine.

Straining
Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture into a clean container to remove any curds and clarify the drink.

Serving
Pour the clarified mixture over a single large ice cube in a rocks glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel and a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.
