Frickles
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the Mt. Olive pickles and pat them dry with a paper towel. This helps in achieving a crispier texture.
- 2
Make the Coating
In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free all-purpose flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Pickles
Take each pickle slice and dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Shake off any excess coating.
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the coated pickles in the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the frickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
- 7
Make Roasted Garlic Ranch
In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, buttermilk, roasted garlic (mashed), and fresh dill (if using). Mix until smooth. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- 8
Enjoy
Serve the frickles with the homemade roasted garlic ranch on the side for dipping.
