Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the onion and set aside. Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, using the bacon drippings, sauté the chopped onions over medium heat until they are caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Shape and Cook the Burger

Form the ground beef into a patty, season with salt and black pepper. In the skillet, cook the patty over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side until desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Patty Melt

Place the cooked patty on a slice of Texas toast, top with crispy bacon, grilled onions, and American cheese. Spread chipotle ranch dressing on another slice of toast and place it on top.

  5. 5

    Grill the Patty Melt

Melt butter in the skillet over medium heat. Grill the sandwich on both sides until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the patty melt with a side of fries.
