Instructions for Chicken Fried Steak
- 1
Prepare the Meat
Season the beef cube steaks with salt and black pepper. Dip each steak into the buttermilk, then dredge in flour, shaking off any excess.
- 2
Fry the Steaks
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated steaks and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.
- 3
Cook the Hash Browns
In the same skillet, add the frozen hash browns and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Remove and keep warm.
- 4
Make the Sausage Gravy
In the same skillet, crumble the sausage and cook over medium heat until browned. Sprinkle with flour and stir well. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and cayenne pepper.
- 5
Scramble the Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs with a pinch of salt. Scramble in a non-stick skillet until cooked to your liking.
