Shawarma Preparation
1. Marinate the Meat
In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken thighs or beef, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
2. Cook the Meat
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the marinated meat from the fridge and cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side until nicely charred and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 75°C (165°F) for chicken and 70°C (160°F) for beef.
3. Prepare Rice
In a saucepan, cook rice according to package instructions. Fluff with a fork and set aside.
4. Serve
Slice the cooked meat thinly and serve it over the cooked rice. Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs or sliced vegetables.
