Method
Cocktail Base
Prepare and combine
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 6 cubes). Add 1 oz Grand Marnier, 1.5 oz vanilla vodka, 0.5 oz triple sec, 3 oz freshly squeezed orange juice, and 1 oz chilled coconut cream. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.
Shake until chilled and frothy
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the mixture is slightly frothy from the coconut cream and orange juice.
Strain
Strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or rocks glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in the coupe for a smoother presentation). Use a fine strainer if you want to remove any pulp for a silkier texture.
Garnish & Finish
Top with whipped cream
Carefully spoon or pipe about 2 tablespoons of whipped cream onto the surface of the cocktail to create the classic 'dreamsicle' finish. If using aerosol whipped cream, apply a light swirl.
Add zest and garnish
Grate about 1 tsp of orange zest over the whipped cream for aroma. Lightly dust with a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of grated nutmeg or shaved white chocolate if desired. Finish by standing a small orange slice or twist on the rim.
Serve
Serve immediately with a short cocktail spoon or straw. Sip through the whipped cream to experience the creamy orange 'dreamsicle' flavor.
