Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the light rum (2 oz), dark rum (1 oz), passion fruit puree (2 oz), fresh lime juice (0.75 oz), fresh orange juice (1 oz), simple syrup (0.5 oz), grenadine (0.25 oz), and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.
Add ice and shake
Add enough ice to the shaker to fill it roughly two-thirds. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosty.
Strain and layer
Discard the ice from the chilled glass and fill it with fresh cracked ice or cubes (~1 cup). Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass. If you want a layered look, slowly pour a small extra drizzle (0.25 oz) of grenadine down the inside of the glass so it sinks toward the bottom, creating a red-to-orange gradient.
Float extra dark rum (optional)
For a more dramatic presentation and stronger aroma, gently float an additional 0.25–0.5 oz of dark rum on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon held just above the drink's surface.
Garnish
Garnish the drink with an orange wheel and maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick. Add a mint sprig if desired for aroma. Serve with a straw and a napkin.
