Ingredients for Chardonnay

Method

Winemaking Process

  1. 1

    Harvesting

Harvest the Chardonnay grapes when they reach optimal ripeness, usually in late summer to early fall.

  2. 2

    Crushing and Pressing

Crush the grapes to release the juice and separate the skins. Press the crushed grapes to extract the juice.

  3. 3

    Fermentation

Transfer the grape juice to fermentation tanks. Add yeast to initiate fermentation, converting sugars into alcohol. Allow fermentation to take place over a period of 1-2 weeks.

  4. 4

    Sulfur Dioxide Addition

Add sulfur dioxide to the wine to preserve it and prevent oxidation.

  5. 5

    Aging

Transfer the wine to oak barrels for aging. This process can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the desired flavor profile.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once the aging process is complete, filter the wine and transfer it into bottles, sealing them for storage.
