Method
Prepare the Meat Sauce
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 2
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix well until creamy and smooth.
Cook the Lasagna Noodles
- 4
Boil Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on a clean surface to prevent sticking.
Assemble the Lasagna
- 5
Layer the Ingredients
In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread one-third of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers two more times, finishing with noodles and remaining meat sauce on top.
- 6
Add Topping
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer of meat sauce.
Bake the Lasagna
- 7
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 8
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serve
- 9
Let it Rest
Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with additional fresh parsley if desired.
