Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccine
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the fettuccine in a colander, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta cooking water. Set aside.
Alfredo Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 4
- 5
Incorporate Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 4-5 minutes, stirring frequently.
- 6
Add Cheese and Seasoning
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg (if using). Continue to stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
Combining Ingredients
- 7
Combine Pasta with Sauce
Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Serve the fettuccine Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley on top.
