Method
Marinating and Grilling Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 2
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F or 190°C to 200°C).
- 3
Grill the Chicken
Once the grill is hot, place the marinated chicken breasts on the grill. Cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove from the grill and let rest for a few minutes.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 4
Prepare the Buns
While the chicken is resting, split the whole wheat sandwich buns in half. If desired, you can lightly toast them on the grill for added flavor.
- 5
Add Condiments
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun and mustard on the top half.
- 6
Layer the Ingredients
Place the grilled chicken breast on the bottom half of the bun. Top with lettuce leaves and slices of tomato.
- 7
Complete the Sandwich
Cover with the top half of the bun. Press down gently to secure.
