Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of white bread. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on the buttered side of 2 slices.

Place 1 slice of American cheese, 1 slice of cheddar cheese, and 1 slice of Swiss cheese between the non-buttered sides of the two Parmesan-sprinkled slices.

Combine Ingredients
Add the canned diced tomatoes (with juice), vegetable broth, salt, pepper, basil, and sugar to the pot. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Soup
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

Use an immersion blender to puree the soup until smooth. Adjust seasoning if necessary and serve hot.
