Method

Waffle Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Waffle Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apple gently.

  4. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  5. 5

    Cook the Waffles

Pour the appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy.

Candied Pecans Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Pecans

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the pecans, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir frequently until the pecans are toasted and the sugar has caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 7

    Cool the Pecans

Remove the candied pecans from the skillet and spread them on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.

Caramel Sauce Preparation

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.

  2. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

  3. 10

    Finish the Sauce

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly.

Assembly

  1. 11

    Plate the Waffles

Place a waffle on a plate, drizzle generously with caramel sauce, and top with candied pecans.

  2. 12

    Add Finishing Touches

Dust with powdered sugar to taste and serve warm.
