Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, divide the Angus ground beef into equal portions (about 8 oz each) and form them into two loose patties. Make sure they are slightly larger than your burger buns, as they will shrink while cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Patties

Sprinkle each side of the patties generously with salt and black pepper to enhance their flavor.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side without moving them to get a nice sear.

  3. 5

    Smash the Patties

Using a spatula, carefully smash each patty down to create a crust. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 6

    Add Cheese

Top each patty with two slices of cheese (either American or Cheddar) and cover the grill or skillet for about 1 minute to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Slice the brioche burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, add a layer of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato, the cooked patties with melted cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste.

  3. 9

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the brioche bun over the ingredients, press down gently, and serve immediately.
