Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rub

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix well to create the dry rub.

  2. 2

    Season the Brisket

Pat the brisket dry with paper towels. Generously apply the dry rub all over the brisket, ensuring an even coating. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 24 hours for deeper flavor.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 4

    Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the brisket on both sides until browned, approximately 4-5 minutes per side.

  3. 5

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Place the seared brisket in a roasting pan or a baking dish. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce around the brisket.

  4. 6

    Cover and Cook

Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and place in the preheated oven. Cook for about 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

  5. 7

    Rest the Brisket

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 8

    Serve

Slice the brisket against the grain, serve with optional BBQ sauce on the side if desired.
