Garnish & Serve
Method
Prep
Thinly slice 3 pieces of cucumber; reserve one attractive slice or a long peel/ribbon for garnish.
Gently slap 4 basil leaves between your palms to release aroma; keep remaining leaves whole for muddling.
Mixing
Add Liquids
Add 2 oz vodka, 0.75 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.75 oz Lillet Blanc, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional for extra balance) into the shaker.
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosty.
Double Strain
Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small bits of basil and cucumber for a silky texture.
Garnish & Finish
If desired, express a lemon twist over the drink by pinching it skin-side down above the surface to release the oils, then drop it in or discard per preference.
Serve immediately. Suggestion: provide a small stirring pick so the guest can briefly stir to integrate the aromatics before sipping.
