Method
Dough / Base
Preheat and prepare
Position an oven rack in the center and preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating. If using a baking sheet, lightly oil or line it.
Shape the dough
Lightly dust a work surface with the listed all-purpose flour. Stretch or roll the 12-inch pizza dough into an approximately 12-inch round (about 1/4-inch thick), leaving a slightly thicker rim for the crust. Transfer to a piece of parchment paper or a lightly floured pizza peel/baking sheet. If desired, brush the rim lightly with 1 tsp olive oil for a golden finish.
Par-bake (optional but recommended for a crisp base)
Slide the dough (on parchment or peel) onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Par-bake for 4–6 minutes just until the surface sets and begins to show tiny bubbles but is not browned. Remove from oven. Par-baking prevents the Nutella from soaking into the dough and keeps the crust crisp.
Spread & Toppings
Prepare toppings
While the dough is par-baking, chop the toasted pecan halves into 1/4- to 1/2-inch pieces. Slice the ripe banana into 1/4-inch diagonal slices. If pecans are not toasted, spread them on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for 4–6 minutes until fragrant, then chop.
Apply Nutella
Remove the par-baked crust from the oven. Using a small offset spatula or the back of a spoon, gently spread 3 tbs Nutella evenly over the warm crust, leaving a 1/2-inch border at the edge. If the Nutella is very thick, warm it for 10–15 seconds in the microwave to soften slightly so it spreads easily.
Arrange banana & pecans
Evenly arrange the banana slices over the Nutella in a single layer or slightly overlapping pattern. Sprinkle the chopped toasted pecans over the top, distributing them so every slice will have some.
Finish baking (optional)
Return the assembled pizza to the oven for 2–4 minutes if you prefer warmed bananas and slightly more set topping. Watch carefully — bananas can brown quickly. This step is optional; serving without additional bake keeps the banana fresh and the Nutella glossy.
Finishing (optional)
Season and serve
Once out of the oven (or immediately after topping if you skipped the second bake), sprinkle 1 tsp flaky sea salt evenly over the pizza to enhance the chocolate flavor. If using, dust lightly with 1 tsp powdered sugar, drizzle 1 tsp honey or maple syrup in a light zigzag, and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Let the pizza rest 1 minute, then slice into 6–8 slices and serve warm or at room temperature.
