Ingredients
Orange Juice
Orange Juice
1. Prepare oranges
Wash the oranges thoroughly under running water to remove any residue. Pat dry with a clean towel.
2. Cut and juice
Cut each orange in half crosswise. Using a hand citrus juicer, reamer, or electric juicer, press and twist each half to extract the juice. Collect the juice in a measuring cup or pitcher. Expect approximately 3/4 to 1 cup of juice from three medium oranges (about 180–240 ml).
3. Adjust consistency and sweetness
Taste the freshly squeezed juice. If it's too thick or very concentrated, stir in up to 1 tablespoon of cold water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached. If you prefer sweeter juice, dissolve up to 1 teaspoon of sugar or honey into a tablespoon of warm water, then stir into the juice. Add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice if you want a brighter flavor.
4. Strain (optional)
If you prefer pulp-free juice, pour the juice through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher or serving glass, pressing gently on pulp to extract more liquid.
5. Chill and serve
Add 3–4 ice cubes to a glass (optional). Pour the juice over ice and serve immediately for the freshest flavor. If not serving right away, refrigerate in a covered container and consume within 24–48 hours.
