Method

Salmon Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry with a paper towel. Brush each fillet with olive oil, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F or 190-200°C).

Teriyaki Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Teriyaki Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the boiling sauce, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

Grilling the Salmon

  1. 5

    Grill the Salmon

Place the prepared salmon fillets skin-side down on the preheated grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

  2. 6

    Brush with Sauce

During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the teriyaki sauce over the fillets for added flavor.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Remove the salmon from the grill and place it on a serving plate. Drizzle additional teriyaki sauce over the top if desired. Serve immediately.
