Fried Ravioli

House Tomato Sauce or Chunky Marinara Sauce

Method

Fried Ravioli

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Ravioli

Dip each ravioli in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat them with breadcrumbs. Place them on a plate or baking sheet until ready to fry.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet with about 1 inch of oil.

  4. 4

    Fry the Ravioli

Once the oil is hot (you can test it by dropping a breadcrumb in; it should sizzle), carefully add the breaded ravioli in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried ravioli with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Keep warm while you prepare the sauce.

House Tomato Sauce or Chunky Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, and add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

  3. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 9

    Serve

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, remove it from heat. Serve the fried ravioli with the sauce on top or on the side for dipping. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
