Beignet Ingredients

Method

Beignet Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Beignets

Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Coat with Powdered Sugar

While still warm, dust the beignets generously with powdered sugar.

  7. 7

    Serve with Crème Anglaise

Plate the beignets and serve with crème anglaise on the side for dipping.
