Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Make the Patty Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

Toasting the Buns

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

Spread butter on the cut sides of each burger bun.

  2. 6

    Toast the Buns

Place the buttered buns on the grill or skillet, cut side down, and toast for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Vegetables

Slice the tomato and onion into thin slices.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, then add slices of tomato and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
