Beef Patties

Bun

Caramelized Onions

Method

Prepare Caramelized Onions

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin strips. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.

Prepare Beef Patties

  1. 2

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 lb of certified Angus beef with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, making them slightly larger than the burger buns.

  2. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the beef is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Build the Double Smash

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer a lettuce leaf, followed by a beef patty with melted cheese, a generous scoop of caramelized onions, and two pickle slices. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of secret sauce over the toppings and cap with the top half of the bun.
