Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally. Once done, place them on a paper towel to drain excess grease.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the bacon is cooking, wash and dry the lettuce. Tear off the leaves and set them aside. Slice the tomatoes into thick slices.

  3. 3

    Toast the Bread

Toast the marbled rye or sourdough bread slices until golden brown. This usually takes about 2-4 minutes in a toaster or on a skillet.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Spread the Mayonnaise (Optional)

If using, spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toasted bread.

  2. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

On one slice of bread, layer the cooked bacon, followed by the lettuce, tomato slices, and white cheddar cheese.

  3. 6

    Finish the Sandwich

Top with the second slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, and press gently to hold everything in place.

Serving

  1. 7

    Cut and Serve

Cut the sandwich in half for easier handling and serve immediately with your choice of side, such as chips or a pickle.
