Marinade
Chicken
Method
Marinating the Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, honey, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Frying the Chicken
- 3
Prepare the Flour Coating
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of flour mixture into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
- 5
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Shake off any excess flour.
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- 7
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
